Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Introduction
Debrif ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-powered meeting recording and summarization service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your data when you use our Chrome extension and web portal at debrif.ru.
Data We Collect
When you use Debrif, we collect the following types of data:
- Audio recordings — Audio from your video conference meetings, captured by the Chrome extension with your explicit consent (you must press the record button to start).
- Meeting metadata — Meeting title, participant names, date and time, duration, and the video conferencing platform used.
- Account information — Email address and name provided during registration through our authentication provider.
- Usage data — Basic analytics about how you interact with the extension and portal (e.g., feature usage, error logs for debugging).
How We Process Your Data
Your meeting data goes through the following processing pipeline:
- Audio upload — The recorded audio is securely transmitted from the Chrome extension to our servers at debrif.ru over HTTPS.
- Transcription — Audio is sent to a third-party speech-to-text provider (AssemblyAI or Deepgram) for transcription with speaker identification.
- Summarization — The resulting text transcript (not audio) is processed by an AI language model (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) to generate meeting summaries and extract action items.
- Storage — The original audio, transcript, and summaries are stored on our servers for your access.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to process your data:
Speech-to-Text Providers
AssemblyAI and Deepgram receive your audio recordings for transcription. These providers process audio according to their respective privacy policies and do not retain your audio after processing is complete.
AI Summarization Providers
OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google receive text transcripts only (never audio recordings) to generate meeting summaries and action items. Audio files are never shared with language model providers.
Authentication
PropelAuth manages user registration and login. They receive your email address and name for account management.
Data Storage and Security
- All data is stored on secure servers with encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS).
- Audio files and transcripts are stored in private object storage, accessible only to authorized users within your organization.
- Database access is restricted through role-based access control with row-level security, ensuring each organization can only access its own data.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any parties other than the service providers described above, and only for the purposes of delivering our service.
Data Retention
Your meeting recordings, transcripts, and summaries are retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of specific meetings or your entire account at any time by contacting us.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — View and download all your meeting data (recordings, transcripts, summaries) through the portal at any time.
- Export — Download your data in standard formats (ZIP archives containing JSON, TXT, and Markdown files).
- Deletion — Request deletion of specific meetings or your entire account and associated data.
- Correction — Update your account information and meeting metadata.
- Objection — You control when recording occurs. The extension only records when you explicitly start a recording.
Cookies and Local Storage
The Chrome extension uses browser local storage (IndexedDB and chrome.storage) to temporarily store recordings before upload and to save your preferences (such as language and server settings). The web portal uses session cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
Children's Privacy
Debrif is designed for business use and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the extension or portal. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
